What's Cooking in Eden

Here are a few tidbits of our time in Eden:

While he was here, nephew/grandbaby Andrew was the center of attention. He's a very good-natured little guy, usually happy even though he was both getting over a cold and starting to teeth (teethe? whatever -- grow teeth!).





One of the local bars is for sale. (The other one was for sale the last time we were here. This time, we're happy enough with our current jobs that we're not tempted, although Mike still has big plans for "coal oven pizza night" and other promotions to bring in the customers from miles around.) If you're interested, it's "reel cheap!"







We had an unwanted adventure with our brother-in-law. He's very allergic to nuts. He was good at avoiding the trail mix and other nutty snacks, but unfortunately, some pastries that were supposed to contain only apple filling also had walnuts in them. He caught it in time and only had a mild reaction, but it was a bit scary because the nearest emergency room is at least a half-hour away.

But his day got a lot better when he got to drive The Terminator and push some manure over at the farm. There's nothing like enormous machinery to brighten up the afternoon. (This is the same machine that Jim will be using to knock down some abandoned houses in Eden in a couple of weeks.)

We went up to Aberdeen and had a good visit with Mike's aunts. We also saw his uncle, who is in intensive care after two surgeries to relieve bleeding in his brain. Things looked very grim a week ago, but he's doing remarkably well now, all things considered -- sitting up, talking, and they've now moved him into another part of the hospital to start his rehab.




There's been work and play out at the farm: Mike gave the dogs a chance to run, and here's Walt bringing in hay bales.
