Four Dog Night

One of the great benefits of fencing our yard is that Stanley can have his little dog friends over to play. (It's the least we can do after cruelly moving him away from Clark Park, his old stomping grounds in Philly and a wonderful gathering place for canines and their humans.)

Usually the dog company is one or two of the neighbors down the street (and of course, their people!) But the last couple days some new dogs have joined in -- our immediate next-door neighbor, a somewhat-shy lab, a dog from down the street (a lab/basset hound mix -- looks like a lab with little bitty short legs), and a visiting dog (a boxer).

Today we had our first breach of security: it turns out that our fence is not beagle-proof. A visiting beagle made a break for it and got into the neighbor's yard and out around the front of their house. By the time we caught up with the dog and were bringing her back, the neighbor behind us was out on his patio. If he was surprised to see me, another woman, two little girls, and a dog traipsing through his backyard, he was nice enough not to show it. :)
