Oscar Anniversary

In honor of the Academy Awards, a moment of shameless name-dropping...

Last year, a friend of ours won the Oscar for Best Short Animated Film. (But alas, we didn’t get to see him on television – he produced, and the director accepted the award.) The film is called Ryan, and it’s a fabulous fourteen-minute experience. It’s about a hotshot young animator who is now a panhandler on the streets of Montreal. The visuals are just amazing – they capture the mental states of the individuals involved in a unique and surreal way. Check it out if you ever have the chance.
