Visit from the Feeshes

We had a great weekend with Mike's roommate from graduate school and his lovely wife Bonnie, who were in visiting from the DC area (which meant that they couldn't get back yesterday due to the snow, so we had a bonus Oscar-watching, Indian food-eating evening with them last night). Mike and Fish also got a chance to do most of their favorite things -- talk politics, drink rum & cokes, and stay up until all hours playing guitar.

On Saturday, we had some other grad school friends in for a cookout, although it was a bit too chilly to use the new patio furniture. (By the way, when Sears tells you that they'll deliver it AND set it up, they're lying. Mike and Fish spent Saturday afternoon assembling the furniture.) However, it was warm enough to open the Monster Golf season!

The two local couples brought their children (each of them have a boy and a girl). Our house doesn't have too much in the way of kid entertainment (besides Stanley, of course), so I'm always a bit amazed at how well visiting kids find ways to amuse themselves. This time, the big hit was flashlights -- they created some kind of game involving chasing each other around with the lights. The other big attraction was a moving dolly (basically some 2X4s attached to wheels), which they used as sort of an indoor sled until we discovered them and put a stop to it. Of course, it also doesn't hurt that they get to eat all the junk food over here that they aren't allowed to have at home. :)
