Happy Father's Day!
We spent our Father's Day taking advantage of the pleasures of Chapel Hill. We took Stanley for a walk down Franklin Street, and stopped for brunch at a coffee shop that our friends had recommended as having good crepes. (It also had outdoor seating, which was a necessity with the dog, though not the most pleasant since the temperatures today were approaching 90.) The crepes were indeed tasty, but the service was ssslllloooooowwwwww. I can understand that people might want to linger over their morning coffee, but it's nicer to linger when a) you're in the air conditioning, and 2) when you actually have your brunch in front of you. Ah well.
The band was pretty good -- they were advertised as "beach music", which turned out to be covers of songs like Mustang Sally and Under the Boardwalk. But it was more the retiree and people with young kids kind of crowd, so we didn't stay around for all that long. It was fun to get out and wander around the park, though.
Mike was disappointed that we missed the International Vinegar Festival this weekend, sponsored by (of course) the International Vinegar Museum, in Roslyn, South Dakota. But, Walt and Georgia were able to go. Among the highlights: they crown a Miss Vinegar, but the runner-up is crowned Miss Viniagrette. And they were supposed to have a Japanese cooking demonstration, but the Japanese chef got lost on the way to Roslyn. Ah, the glories of small town living.

Another of Roslyn's claims to fame: I went to 6th and half of 7th grade there!

Great picture of Mike and Stanley!
You got a problem with retirees?
Mike was just jealous because the retirees could dance better than he could. :)
