Cancelled

They cancelled our flight out of Berlin today (due to weather in New York, which means that they won't pay for the hotel costs -- ugh). We're flying out tomorrow via Zurich and Atlanta. Wish us luck. (Our first leg is on Lufthansa, which is on strike!)

We went back to the airport hotel we stayed at last night, and the price had gone up 20 Euros from the night before. So we found a new place to stay -- a bit further from the airport but also in a more lively location.

I think today was our tribute to the DDR (former East Germany) -- we spent about four hours of it, all told, standing in lines. (And on a delayed U-bahn train as well.) But one of the lines was worth it. We made it to the Reichstag, which had been closed all last week. It was worth the (hot) wait; great views of the city, and the glass dome itself was really cool. The middle is mirrored, so you see reflections of people climbing up the ramp, as well as glimpses of the city and views of people at the bottom.
